BMW is ending extensions for the BMW Assist safety plan and convenience plan (i.e. the number of customers). This affects all vehicles based on CDMA, TCU 1.5 and COMBOX technologies. By January 1, 2017, BMW Assist Safety and Security Plan services will be unavailable. At present, we do not have an upgrade to turn the previous hardware into newer hardware, so BMW Assist can continue to be supported. However, we are working on a technical upgrade. No, vehicles cannot be upgraded to technology that allows for the renewal of the safety plan/convenience plan. Early next year, BMW ConnectedDrive Services will provide more specific details to customers. All services under the BMW assistance safety plan and the convenience plan are affected and will no longer operate from the end of 2016. These include SoS (Emergency Calling) and MyInfo (Send to Car), remote services such as Remote Door Unlock and my BMW Remote App, Stolen Vehicle Recovery, TeleService, Concierge and all other services available under the BMW Assist Safety and Convenience plans. By the end of 2016, the underlying communication technologies will no longer be supported. On that date, BMW Assist Safety and Convenience Services will no longer operate in the vehicle.
